Today we have 1,282 free designs for Freebie Friday. Also check out the new Sales page and note that the donations button is now working.
What is it?
To set the mood for a good weekend, I thought we would have Freebie Fridays; each week presenting a different designer. All sites listed here design their own charts. These designs are copyright to the designers, please do not abuse their generosity.
Why this designer?
Cyberstitchers isn’t a designer so much as a group of designers all sharing their work and knowledge. Although not that active now, Cyberstitchers has helped cross-stitchers worldwide since 2003. There is a wealth of information on the website that is still very useful today including Free Patterns, a collection of illustrated Finishing Techniques, Message Boards for you to ask questions, Charity Listings to help you find a cause to support with your stitching, the searchable Cross Stitch Patterns Directory to help you find the next project to stitch, and a variety of Stitching Tools to help with your projects.
Cyberstitchers Pattern Copyright Restrictions are as follows:
Cyberstitchers.com has received permission from the designers of these patterns to post for download from this site. The patterns may be used for personal use only and are not to be resold, posted to any other site, or printed for distribution. You may not sell any projects created from these patterns unless the profits are for a charitable organization. The charts can not be used directly or indirectly in any way to generate profits or for free project packets. Only patterns stitched from the charts can be sold provided the profits are donated to charity.
Cyberstitchers free designs are all available on the Cyberstitchers free Designs page. Some of them are also available on the designer’s own home page, but that differs for each designer.
On the Cyberstitchers free page, each design has three download formats:
- .PAT format is a pattern format used by PCStitch computer program, you can download a free PCStitch Viewer to open these files.
- .MCPAT format was created by myriaCross.com; many differing stitching programs use this format.
- .PDF (Portable Document Format) is a file format that has captured all the elements of a printed document as an electronic image that you can view, navigate, print, or forward to someone else. PDF files are created using Adobe Acrobat , Acrobat Capture, or similar products. You can download the free Adobe PDF Viewer to open these files. Many e-readers can also read .pdf files making this the most versatile format of the three options.
Most of the designs on CyberStitchers free page are under 150 x 150 stitch count and composed of only a few colours. The .pdf patterns print out as two pages. Page one is the chart, the second page lists the author, stitch count, recommend fabric, fabric size for that fabric and the floss key.
The larger charts can feel a little squished when printed out as one page. You may wish to work these designs directly from your laptop or tablet where it is easy to increase the grid size. Cyberstitchers use floss symbols on a coloured background; it is easy to distinguish the right colour floss, but this does make it difficult if you wish to mark off your progress. If you wish to print out these designs, you will need a colour printer, as the dark colour backgrounds make it difficult to see the symbols if printed in shades of grey.
Many of these charts can be easily customised to stitch in hand dyed floss or add metallic floss or beads or change the background fabric.
