If Cats Could Talk by Designs by Lisa

Tuesday sweetness with a touch of sassiness. If Cats Could Talk by Kathy Hackford of Designs by Lisa.

Sorry still having scanner issues – should be fixed this afternoon.

From the Designer

If cats could talk, they would probably lie!

Why this chart?

This chart and the threads were a gift from Nancy.

I have lived with cats for all of my life and I fervently believe that cats and dogs would lie “Why no, I wasn’t fed 5 minutes ago!  I’m going to die of starvation!”

I love the whimsicalness of this design, with the paw prints and the flowers, and then the expression of the cat, trying to maintain innocence “mouse? What mouse?”

This design uses whole cross stitch and some backstitching. It is suitable to stitch on Aida or Evenweave.  If you wanted to stitch this over one on 28 count, I would recommend changing the Mill Hill Treasure to something a little smaller or leaving it out altogether.

If Cats Could Talk
If Cats Could Talk

If Cats Could Talk is printed on a US Ledger (or A3) yellow card stock. It is printed double-sided and folded in half to create a four-page US Letter (A4) booklet.  The booklet is printed in black on the yellow card. A photograph of the completed stitched design is glued to the front cover.

The chart is printed over both of the inner sides of the booklet.  The chart is printed in two sections with a three-row overlap on the second section.  This means that there is no printing over the fold line.  I heartily approve and recommend this style. If you are going to fold your design, do not print over the fold!

The chart uses eight different colours, so eight different symbols. There are diverse enough not to be confused with each other.  the chart is printed large enough that all the symbols can easily be seen on the pale yellow card stock. You can easily see and stitch this design without making a copy.

The design uses three different colours for backstitching.  The chart shows only one type of backstitch line; the instructions for which colour to use for which area of the chart is given on the back cover.

The back cover also lists all the rest of the pertinent information and instructions about the design; the stitch count and design size, the fabric used in the model stitch, details for the chart and the floss list and symbol key.

This chart recommends Gentle Arts Sampler Threads (GAST) hand dyed threads, but Kathy does include DMC alternatives.
