A Little Spark of Madness by AdLeones

This week’s reviews are all from designers who sell on Etsy.  Today’s designer was chosen by Rebecca Schang and the design was chosen by Melissa Hicks; A Little Spark of Madness by AdLeones  (translation: to León)

Ad Leones - Little Spark of Madness

From the Designer

Robin Williams…comedy genius, award-winning actor, and one of the kindest humans/aliens anyone ever met. Take it from a man whose madness enchanted the world, and remember to feed the little spark of it that’s in you.

Why this chart?

AdLeones produces many charts for popular culture such as Games of Thrones and Sherlock, yet it is this quote from Robin Williams that I was drawn to.

You’re only given a little spark of madness … if you lose that, you are nothing.  Robin Williams.

Very sound advice given in the midst of a stand-up comedy routine in 1977.  Many of our good comedians discuss universal truths under the guise of humour.

This one particularly resonates as I see so many people hide their talents or tank their grades to “fit in”. Your little spark of madness could be in the artistic fields, the dramatic arts or in science or maths.  Whatever it is, whatever gives you passion, nurture it, don’t be an unhappy drone for your entire life.

A Little Spark of Madness is a great reminder to let our individuality blossom.

Little Spark of Madness uses whole cross stitch, backstitch and two French Knots; stitched in DMC and metallic threads on White Aida fabric.  I recommend this chart for any level of stitcher who wants a reminder of great comedian or who wants encouragement in their passionate endeavours.

You can download the design as many times as you need after purchase.  This is perfect for those who like to keep their cross stitch patterns in multiple backup locations OR as a recovery for those who don’t and lose them all.

The Little Spark of Madness PDF chartpack is seven pages long. The front cover has a computer mockup of the finished design.

The second page has all the instructions for stitching this chart, and the stitch count.

Next are the four pages of the chart. Each subsequent page includes a three-row shaded overlap to help you keep your place.

The floss symbols are shown with on a coloured backgrounds. These are an immense help to differentiate between two similar symbols when they are on completely different colours; however as the coloured backgrounds are quite dark, you will need to print the chart in colour to see some of the symbols.

Back stitching is also shown as a variety of coloured lines; another reason to print off your chart in colour.

The last page of the chart pack has everything needed to stitch Little Spark of Madness; stitch count, preferred fabric, design size on the preferred fabric, and the combined floss list and symbol key.

As Little Spark of Madness is stitched with whole cross stitches only, it is suitable to stitch on Aida or evenweave fabric.
