From the Designer
This bridge is one of my favourite paces in the City of Paris! It shows the view from Pont Alexandre III (Alexander III bridge) towards The Eiffel Tower at dusk! A must see when in Paris!
This design is dedicated to James Dod of California for coming up with the perfect title for this design!
Deja Vu (Statue of Liberty) is a companion piece in the same style, using the same floss and fabric.
Why this chart?
Rendezvous Paris is almost the antithesis of Marc’s other work. Instead of multiple floss colours on a neutral fabric, Rendezvous Paris is one floss on a fabulous hand dyed fabric.
Rendezvous Paris is a very straightforward design using one shade of floss, stitched using whole cross stitch and backstitch only. This design can be stitched over two or over one. Marc suggests different backstitch instructions and amounts of floss for stitching 1 over 1 or 2 over 2.
This is a great design for Romantic Stitchers of all levels; it is a perfect design for those wanting to use a hand dyed fabric for the first time.
The Silver Lining’s designs are only available as printed charts. Rendezvous Paris is printed on light grey US Letter paper. The front cover is a light cardstock in grey with a photo of the stitched design glued to it.
More recent chart packs may have an image of the stitched design printed on the cover. My copy is from when the design was first released in 2007.
The light grey paper may be a deterrent for piracy and is an easy way to find if you have a legitimate copy of this chart. The design is very easy to see, the light-grey paper does not impact my ability to see or stitch from the design.
The six-part chart is great to stitch from. The floss symbol and backstitch lines are very to see and the chart is printed large so you can easily stitch and mark off your progress. The centre point of the design is marked if you are a centre-starter.
The chart does not include any overlap rows on any pages. You may need to stick the pages together to make sure accuracy of stitching. Otherwise, count, count and count again.
Also part five and six of the chart are only partial pages so they are both printed on the last page. The bottom of The Eiffel Tower is at the cross over of part four and part six, so there is also a small image of the Tower on the last page to help with placement.
The back cover of the chart pack lists the stitch count, the model stitch fabric, the chart page layout, the floss colour used.
This chart is deliberately designed so it can be stitched over 2 or over 1 on 28ct fabric. The design size and number of floss skeins required are given for both options.
To stitch Rendezvous Paris exactly as designed, you will need:
Anchor 401 (similar to DMC 413 Pewter Grey).
two skeins for 1 over 1
five skeins for 2 over 2
28 count Crossed Wing “Starry Night” Cashel Linen (stitch count 119 x 195). This design can be stitched over 2 or over 1.
To stitch one over one on 28ct linen (with 3″ border allowance) fabric size is: 10” x 13” or 25 x 33cm or a fat eighth (13 x 18″).
To stitch the regular two over two on 28ct linen (with 3″ border allowance) fabric size is: 15” x 20” or 37 x 51cm or a fat quarter (18 x 27″).

Chromatic Alchemy “I have two choices for rendezvous in Paris. First up is Quiescence with spots, this is pretty close to the original fabric but more like an early sunset with the pinks and blues still lingering in the sky.
My second choice is Maelstrom, this is more evocative of a cloudy night sky, if I was going to use this fabric I would light up the lamps with some lovely variegated orange/yellow floss for a wonderful splash of colour.”
Crafty Kitten “Quite a lot of colours would work for this and give different effects. The ones I would go for are: February’s Ltd Ed, Moonlight, Evening Sky, Oceanic Fantasia and Daybreak.
Dawn Blush or Sunrise would give a totally different feeling to the piece as well.”
Sparklies“no questions here, either Moonlighting or Dusk would really work for this lovely piece”
